What’s going on in the Shire in April?

This is our April Hit List, which includes everything from school holiday activities to new store openings.

Any Shire resident knows that our small LGA is constantly buzzing with wonderful events, restaurant and café openings, markets, and – everyone’s favourite – enticing happy hours. And, with school vacations and Easter approaching, it promises to be a very busy month. To save you time, we’ve compiled a list of events in the Sutherland Shire for April.

 

Stroll around Cronulla’s Easter Market

What more could you want from a market than delicious global cuisines, children’s toys, a range of local homewares, fashion, and art, a real-life Easter bunny dishing out chocolate eggs, and Cronulla’s magnificent beachfront as a backdrop? This egg-citing Easter-themed event will take place on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday, April 2nd from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Don Lucas Reserve.

 

Update your holiday wardrobe with the help of these stylish boutiques.

Sure, internet shopping is the greatest convenience, but there’s something special about browsing clothes in person. We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of the Shire’s most carefully picked stores to help you refresh your fall wardrobe. Cronulla’s Pfeiffer is the newest boutique to capture our hearts, offering one-of-a-kind, limited-run designs meant to resist rapid trends.

 

Give Cony’s new Sunday session a try

Every Sunday, Cony’s, a local institution, throws a very exciting Sunday session with happy hour beverages from 3:00pm to 4:00pm and live music from 4:00pm to 8:30pm. Make sure you book! Go on; we know you want to.

Is there any greater medicine than laughter? The Studio Sydney welcomes you to their first-ever Comedy Night, ‘Take The Floor’, on Saturday, April 29th at 7:00pm! The event, hosted by comic Mitch Parry, will feature a number of Sydney’s emerging comedians. What is the best part? Have Fun at the Grill’d X Headspace Trivia Night!

Dine for a cause on Monday, April 24th by joining Headspace at Grill’d Miranda for a night of trivia! The event begins at 6:00pm and costs $30, which includes a burger and chips. Bring your family and friends for the greatest chance of winning! All funds earned will be given to Young Mental Health. Although we wouldn’t turn down a good-old Cadbury egg, in the Shire you can take it a step further by stocking up on Easter sweets from one of our local chocolate producers. Visit Nina’s Chocolates in Gymea for their Easter metamorphosis, or Essenze Chocolates in Caringbah for their intricate patterns.

We’ll take any excuse for a date or a girls’ night out, so when we heard Jack Grey had a fresh new dinner menu, you can bet we were the first to make reservations. Embracing the burrata revolution, options include autumn-inspired meals like Burrata with Walnuts, Honey, and Fresh Figs, Kingfish Sashimi in Mandarin and Dill, Braised Beef Short Rib, and – brace yourself – freshly-made Cob Loaf.

Cronulla’s Easter Show begins on Friday, April 7th, and continues from 10:00am to 4:00pm for the whole holiday weekend (including Monday)! Cronulla Mall will be turned into a fun-filled arena including entertainment, rides, show bags, farm animals, food stalls, shops, and much more.

Attend one of the Shire’s ANZAC Day memorial ceremonies to honour the courageous Australians who served proudly for our nation. There’s one in almost every suburb (Bundeena, Caringbah, Cronulla, Menai, and Woronora to mention a few).

Cook At Kurnell’s Easter weekend activities will not disappoint, since they are equally engaging for both children and parents. Happy hour runs from Friday to Sunday at 4:00 p.m., with $14 drinks, $7 beers, and $35 sangria jugs. The kids’ jumping castle is open all weekend, with live music and a petting zoo throughout.
